Unfortunately, Seagate bought Maxtor and they don’t seem to be providing very good support for this device. You can help protect yourself from scammers by verifying that the contact is a Microsoft Agent or Microsoft Employee and that the phone number is an official Microsoft global customer service number.

I have the same question I have tried installing the driver that came with the device but this was unsuccessful. Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers attempt to trick you into paying for unnecessary technical support services.
Thanks for marking this as the answer. Thank you for posting. I’ve tried power cycling the drive, shutting down and restarting, etc. Everything works well under Win XP, so I’m sure the problem is not the drive itself.
